Electronic Communication Agreement
Also known as Parent Consent to Receive Electronic Documents.
Navigate to Search Student, My Home Page, Documents Section, then Parent Consent to Receive Electronic Documents.
In compliance with Article 7 regulations and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Schools must provide parents with special education documents. The Parent Consent to Receive Electronic Documents allows parents or guardians to opt in to receive these documents electronically, rather than in paper format.
This feature enables schools to securely deliver IEPs, notices, and other special education-related documents via email or other electronic means. Electronic delivery improves accessibility, reduces paperwork, and ensures timely communication.
Key features
Consent-Based Delivery – Parents must provide explicit consent before electronic document delivery begins.
Withdrawal Option – Parents can revoke their consent at any time and request paper copies.
Compliance – Ensures adherence to federal and state regulations governing special education records.
How it works
Parent Provides Consent – Schools obtain signed consent from parents, either digitally or via a paper form.
Electronic Delivery Activated – Once consent is recorded, parents receive special education documents electronically.
Ongoing Management – Parents can update their preferences or withdraw consent at any time through the system.
System integration
The Eligibility Records Profile includes an option to track parent consent status.
Schools can configure delivery preferences within the SPED system.

Letter body text and Parental consent
The first part of this section is the core content of the communication. The letter content is mostly boilerplate. However, school management may adjust the wording on a case-by-case basis and modify it as needed.
The second part involves the parents providing their consent. For this, they must select either of the following two checkboxes to indicate which method the parents will use to sign the document.
Parents will sign a paper copy
In this case, the document is sent physically through postal mail, Courier, Facsimile, or Hand Delivery.
Once the document is ready and has been sent to the parents, an administrator or school staff member records these details in a log.
Since sending the document to the parents might require several attempts, this log can have multiple entries.
Parents will sign digitally
In this case, the document is sent electronically, either by email or through an online link.
However, a parent can choose to approve or deny the consent by selecting either of the checkboxes for Parent Refusal.
Mail or Courier Tracking Log
This section logs the attempts to send a physical copy of the document to the Parents for signature. The form appears by default on the page load for the first entry in the log.
The following table shows the fields related to delivery attempts made on the Notice of Re-Evaluation document.
