SPEDSM-101782 | Eligibility Recommendation Document & Visual Impairment Qualifying Criteria | Visual Impairment (VI) Section Updates for Summer Model Release In the upcoming summer model release, the following changes will be implemented when the user selects the Visual Impairment checkbox under the Purpose area. This will trigger a new VI section to appear. These changes will not be mandatory, meaning any non-finalized document will inherit these updates upon deployment. MI customers are recommended to finalize all “Completed” ER documents before the model release. Changes to the Visual Impairment Section: Diagnostic Assurances Update: Orientation & Mobility Recommendations: Qualifying Criteria Adjustments: Removed the following hard-coded values from the document: Acuity of less than 20/200 Restricted peripheral vision Deteriorating eye condition
Added a new value: “Adversely affects educational performance.” This will be the only value selectable in Qualifying Criteria when Visual Impairment is checked. Removed the functionality that currently assigns default values for Qualifying Criteria when a student is eligible for Visual Impairment.
Guidance Statement Modification: New Red Guidance Statement: Added the following red guidance statement below the third checkbox: “For visual acuity of 20/200 or less, peripheral field of vision restricted to 20 degrees or less, or based on the recommendation of a teacher of students with visual impairment, ophthalmologist, or optometrist.” This statement will always be displayed and will not be controlled by the checkboxes that appear.
Assurance Statement Area Update: Eligible/Not Eligible Checkbox Logic:
|
SPEDSM-106562 | IEP - Consent and Commitment section | Fixed the error message when the Special Education parent consent field is blank, even though the student is only eligible for Early On services, not Special Education, and the staff opted for a manual Signing process. |
SPEDSM-101654 | IEP Form | The following updates were made to the ESY section within Programs and Services: Addition of ESY Area: An ESY section is now included and will only appear for newly created IEPs after the summer ’24 release. Amendments to IEPs created before the summer release will retain the old format without this new section. Updated text for Guidance: Add needed ESY services to this document's Programs and Services section. Document how the team decided ESY, including data used to make the determination, in the box that follows. For students who need ESY services, specify which area(s) they qualify under and what goal(s)/objective(s) will be worked on during ESY. New Checkboxes and Logic: When the user selects “The IEP Team has considered the anticipated needs of this student including the need for extended school year (ESY) services including the areas of regression/recoupment, critical stage of learning, and nature/severity of disability,” the following checkboxes appear: The student qualifies for ESY based on Regression/Recoupment. The student qualifies for ESY based on Critical Stage of Learning. The student qualifies for ESY based on Nature/Severity of Disability.
Based on the selection of these checkboxes: If all three checkboxes (3.1, 3.2, and 3.3) are selected Yes, the following prompt appears: “ESY services are needed to address a specific goal or need. Describe data/process that determined services were necessary based on the areas of regression/recoupment, critical stage of learning, or nature/severity of disability.” If any of the checkboxes (3.1, 3.2, and 3.3) are selected No, the following prompt appears: “ESY services are not needed. Describe data/process that determined services were not necessary based on the areas of regression/recoupment, critical stage of learning, or nature/severity of disability.”
The following updates were made to the PLAAPF Section: Added five new checkboxes within Resulting Need area: These checkboxes are optional and will not flow data to profiles. Unchecked values will have their labels and checkboxes suppressed. Supplementary Aids and Services Logic: If the “Supplementary Aids and Services” checkbox is selected, the system will require that the "Supplementary aids and services are needed at this time" checkbox on the Special Factors page is also selected. Validation will ensure that at least one goal has the Supplementary Aids checkbox selected. If this is not met, the user cannot set the document to review or final, and the message will display: “The IEP Special Factors section indicates Supplementary aids are needed. However, there are no goals that have the Supplementary Aids box selected. Or there is at least one goal that has Supplementary Aids selected, however on the Special Factors section, no supplemental aids are needed.”
Personal Care Plan Logic: Specialized Transportation Logic: If at least one PLAAPF item with the “Specialized Transportation” checkbox is selected, and the “Yes, Specialized transportation is required due to the following” checkbox in the Programs and Services section is selected, a warning message will appear: “Specialized transportation is selected as a need on the PLAAFP, however, specialized transportation is not indicated on the Programs and Services section.” The user cannot set the document to review or final. If the Programs and Services checkbox is checked but no PLAAPF item has the ST checked, no warning message will appear, and the user can set the document to review/final.
Stylized Text: Applied stylized text for the “Progress on most recent goals and objectives” field.
