Keyword Table Update

  • The keyword table previously named ‘FrequencyGIEP’ has been renamed to ‘Frequency’ to reduce confusion and maintain consistency.

  • The same ‘Frequency’ keyword is now used across both School Age IEP and Gifted IEP forms for streamlined data handling.

School-Age IEP: LRE Section

  • We’ve added a validation to ensure accuracy in the “Percentage of time a student spends inside the regular classroom.”
    If the calculated percentage exceeds 100%, users will now see a message prompting them to review and correct the values entered for Hours spent in Regular Class and Hours in Regular School Day.

  • Additionally, the percentage is now recalculated automatically whenever either of these values is updated. The page will refresh to reflect the most recent calculation, ensuring up-to-date and accurate data entry.

Notice of Recommended Educ. Placement (NOREP)

  • The system now enforces correct consent response selection behavior on the Notice of Recommended Educ. Placement (NOREP) form during digital signing.

    • Mediation, Due Process Hearing request options can only be selected if Option 3 (“I do NOT approve...”) is chosen.

    • If selections are invalid, a validation message is shown and digital signature submission is blocked until corrected.

  • This ensures compliance with consent guidelines.

  • The behavior is supported only when PowerSchool Digital Signature is used for electronic signatures.

  • The system now enforces correct consent response selection behavior on the Reevaluation PWN and Consent form during digital signing.

  • The "Stylized Text" formatting option (bold, italic, underline, bullets, etc.) has been enabled for all long text boxes across the Summary of Student Performance form.

  • This allows users to apply rich text formatting to improve clarity, readability, and emphasis within form content.

Primary Type of Support Selection in IEP and Placement Profiles

We’ve introduced an enhancement to the School Age IEP and Placement workflow to support improved reporting and data consistency for Type of Support.

  • Primary Type of Support in IEP:

    • Users can now select the Primary Type of Support in the Placements section of the IEP.

    • Once the IEP is finalized, the system will automatically update the Placement Profile with the selected Primary Type of Support, along with other placement details.

  • Placement Profile Enhancements:

    • A new dropdown field for Primary Type of Support has been added to the Placement Profile.

    • Users can view and edit the Primary Type of Support directly from the profile.

    • All existing selections for Type of Support will be

  • Automated Updates Based on Active Recommendations:

    • The system will automatically update the Primary Type of Support on PIMS and PENN Data Profiles based on the Placement Profile details and the active recommendation’s Implementation Start Date.

  • NOREP Form Updates:

    • The NOREP form now copies Placement data, including the Primary Type of Support, from the latest active IEP or revision.

Data Migration & Compatibility:

  • For existing non-finalized IEPs and current Placement Profiles:

    • The system will retain all previously selected supports under Secondary Type of Supports.

    • The first support in the list will be automatically set as the Primary Type of Support using the same logic that the system used to show the single Type of Support on the PIMS profile before this release.

  • Users are recommended to review non-finalized IEPs/ Revisions and confirm that the correct Primary Type of Support is selected before finalization.

Reporting:

  • All relevant reports displaying Type of Support have been updated to reflect this enhancement.

  • Users can also review and validate Placement data directly from the Placement Profile for PIMS and PENN reporting needs.

Section 504 Manifestation Determination and Agreement to waive the Reevaluation

  • Corrected the issue with the digital signature request where parents/guardians with Received Letters enabled were not listed on the Digital Signature submission request. The system was not allowing signatures if the parent/guardian’s First Name is empty on the Demographics profile, even when the Name field correctly has the parent/guardian’s full name.

  • Both Section 504 Manifestation Determination and Agreement to waive the Reevaluation forms are corrected.

Gifted - Permission to Evaluate Form

The Permission to Evaluate form has been updated to auto-populate the Due Date for GWR based on the Date of Receipt of the form.

The Due Date for GWR is read-only and will be calculated as 60 days from the Date of Receipt of Permission to Evaluate, similar to the Gifted Profile - Due Date.

Digital Signature: Editable Progress Reports

  • A new feature has been introduced to allow users to edit the Progress Report even after the IEP is sent for Digital Signature.

  • To enable this functionality, the behavior option ‘Omit from Electronic Signature’ must be turned on.

  • This setting is available at: School Age IEP Document TemplateProgress Report sectionSection Properties

  • This ensures that users can continue updating progress information without affecting the document awaiting signature, as the section is omitted from the IEP document sent for Digital Signatures.

  • The functionality is only supported on PowerSchool Digital Signatures.

  • The IEP Progress Report section is set to allow editing by default when omitted from the Digital Signature.

  • Admins must enable the “Omit from Electronic Signature” behavior option on the Progress Report section properties to make it editable during the digital signature process.

  • Once omitted, the section remains editable even when the document is submitted for digital signatures.

  • Below are the details of the two behavior options on the Progress Report section and their use to leverage this feature:

    • Omit from Electronic Signature

      • Purpose: Hides selected sections from the digital signature workflow.​

      • Controlled by: Customer Admin or PowerSchool State Model Team.​

      • Use Case: Commonly used to exclude sections like the Progress Report from being signed.​

    • Allow Editing When Omitted from Signature

      • Purpose: Allows editing of a section when it is excluded from signing.​

      • Default Status: Disabled.​

      • Controlled by: PowerSchool State Model Team only.​ (To enable/Disable this feature for any other document section, a support ticket must be submitted to PowerSchool Support.​)

SPEDSM-117434

Gifted Written Reports - Electronic Signature Support

Introduced the ability to send both the Initial and Reevaluation Gifted Written Reports for electronic signatures. This enhancement enables the efficient and secure collection of signatures from Parents/Guardians and staff members on the Multidisciplinary Team.

  • Parents/Guardians will now be included based on the "Receives Letter" flag. All recipient names will be accurately displayed. The users must choose who is to sign the form.

  • Updated Signature Grid - the user interface has been updated to align with our standard signature grid, displaying Name, Role, Signature, and Date fields.

  • All standard PS Digital Signature functionality is fully supported in this update.

Individualized Education Plan - Services

Implemented a solution that allows the IEP Implementation Date and Anticipated Duration of Services from the IEP cover page to automatically populate into the corresponding service date fields in the Services and Transition Planning sections.

This would significantly reduce manual effort to update the dates for services if the Cover page dates are changed.

Recommendation: Staff should review the Services section of the IEP to ensure that the correct dates are entered for each service assigned to the student before finalizing the IEP.

New Field Added to Eligibility Profile: “Needs PBSP”

Introduced a new field to the Eligibility Profile to help staff better track behavioral support needs based on finalized IEP data.

  • A logical (Yes/No) field labeled “Needs PBSP” has been added to the Eligibility Profile.

    • This field is optional and can be updated automatically through dataflow from IEP.

Automated Data Flow from IEP

  • When an IEP or Revised IEP is finalized, the system will automatically update the “Needs PBSP” field based on the response to the final question on the Special Considerations page:

    • “Does the student exhibit behaviors that impede their learning or that of others?”

    • If answered Yes/No, the same value will be reflected in the “Needs PBSP” field.

  • Updated the streaming of “Needs PBSP” value to the eSchoolPlus application. This field's setting ('yes' or 'no') is contingent on a checkbox within the Eligibility profile. Upon integration with eSP, the CanStream field will control the inclusion or exclusion of PDFs.

ESY Services Indicator in Eligibility and Related Services Profiles

Introduced new capabilities to help staff members easily track and manage Extended School Year (ESY) eligibility and ESY services based on the latest active IEPs.

Eligibility Profile Enhancements

  • New ESY Field: A new checkbox labeled ‘ESY’ has been added to the Eligibility Profile.

    • This field is editable, non-mandatory, and defaults to unchecked (False).

  • Automated Data Flow from IEP:

    • When an IEP is finalized, the ESY checkbox in the Eligibility Profile will automatically update based on the ‘Eligible’ selection under IEP > Services > ESY Services.

    • This automation applies to both new IEPs and IEP Revisions, including existing non-finalized IEPs.

  • Post-Release Behavior:

    • After this release, the system will automatically script and update the ESY flag in the Eligibility Profile using the latest finalized/active IEP data for the student.

Related Services Profile Enhancements

  • New ESY Field: A new checkbox labeled ‘ESY’ has been added to the Related Services Profile.

    • This field is editable, non-mandatory, and defaults to unchecked (False).

  • Summary Grid Update:

    • A new column ‘ESY’ has been added to the Summary Grid to indicate whether a service is marked as ESY.

  • Automated Data Flow from IEP:

    • Any services marked as ESY in the IEP > Services section will now automatically populate in the Related Services Profile with ESY = True.

    • This includes all scenarios currently supported for other Related Services in both new and revised IEPs.

  • Important Note:

    • ESY service data will only be captured on the “Related/ESY Services” from the IEPs and IEP Revisions finalized after this release.

    • For the existing finalized IEPs/Revised IEPs, the ESY service data will be available on the IEP document only.

  • Profile Renaming:

    • The Related Services Profile has been renamed to “Related/ESY Services” to reflect this enhancement.

Medical Assistance Program Billing Consent

In View mode, the form will display only the static content as it was originally generated when the document was created, without any user-entered data. This behavior remains consistent regardless of the following conditions:

  • Whether the "Duplicate Letter Generation" option is set to Yes, No, or left Blank

  • Whether the user has filled in any data on the form or not

School Age Procedural Safeguards and Preschool Early Intervention Safeguards

  • The Procedural Safeguards Notices section of the School Age Procedural Safeguards and Preschool Early Intervention Safeguards documents have been updated to reflect the latest changes issued by the state for the year 2025.

  • To support easy access, direct links to the complete safeguards packets hosted on the PaTTAN website are added to the PSSP documents.
    Staff can use these links to be redirected to the PaTTAN site, where they can download and print the full safeguards packet as needed.

Assessments/Accommodations Updates

  • PSSA and Keystone Exam assessment lists for Presentation, Response, and Settings are updated as per the latest Accommodations Guidelines issued by the state for the year 2025-26.

  • On Presentation, Response, and Settings dropdowns, the user is provided with an option to select ‘Other' and add the respective accommodation if it’s not listed on the dropdowns.
