System Values
The following table lists special system values that can be accessed from a formula.
| Function | Description |

| HistoryYear | Returns the current school year. Indicates school years as two numbers (like 2007/2008); you should compare the later school year with the previous school year. |
| MarkingPeriod | Refers to the current marking period and can be compared with the marking period keywords defined for the school district. |
| User | If the current user is a staff user, this refers to the staff profile of the current user. For other types of users (Admin, Consultant, student, parent, etc.), this is EMPTY. |
