EL Monitoring Process
The EL monitoring process allows educators to tracking and evaluating English Learners (ELs) to ensure the student is making sufficient progress in language acquisition and academic performance. This document serves as confirmation that EL services have received the necessary support to succeed in school and achieve their educational goals while also ensuring compliance with legal and educational standards.
Create
You can create an EL Monitoring Process only for students coded as Exited - Monitoring Year 1 or Exited Monitoring Year 2.
Select a student on the Students panel.
Click the Documents icon for the student.
From the Create New Document drop-down list, select EL Monitoring Process under English Learners (EL), click Go, click OK, and click OK again.
In the Student Information section, the system auto-populates the following information:
From the Student Info profile:
STN (State ID)
Student
Birth Date
Current Grade
From the English Learners (EL) profile:
ML Status
Student Language
School
Use the lookup icon to select the EL Teacher of Record. This is a required field.
Select the Monitoring Period. This is a required field. The options available are:
Monitoring Year 1 - Period 1
Monitoring Year 1 - Period 2
Monitoring Year 2 - Period 1
Monitoring Year 2 - Period 2
Use the date picker to select the Monitoring Date. This is a required field.
Enter Language Proficiency Observations in the long text field. This is used to track and evaluate an English Learner’s (EL’s) ability to understand, speak, read, and write in English. They monitor progress and identify areas where the student may need additional support.
Provide Assessment Data. This data is used to collect and analyze information regarding English Learners' (ELs') language proficiency and academic performance. This is a required field.
Enter the name of the assessment in the Assessment field.
Enter the Content Area.
Use the date picker to select the Date.
Enter the Score.
To enter additional assessment details, click the plus icon and repeat steps 10 to 13.
Enter Academic Performance Observations. This is a required field.
Enter Course/Content Area.
Enter Performance/Grade.
Enter Notes/Observations.
To enter additional academic performance observations, click the plus icon and repeat steps 16 to 18.
Enter Additional Observations. This is a required field.
Enter Recommendations. This is a required field. You can choose from:
Performing successfully in the mainstream classroom(s). Continue monitoring without intervention.
Having difficulties in one or more mainstream classroom(s). Academic intervention(s) needed. If this option is selected, then enter details of the Academic interventions.
Enter details for Exited EL Monitoring Team. This is a required field.
Use the lookup icon to select the Name of the staff. The Role and Subject field will auto-populate.
To enter details of additional team members, click the plus icon and repeat step 23.
Click Save, Done Editing.
