IEP and Services Plan Updates to Support Amendments

IEP and Service Plan amendment logic now correctly permits field editing based on the relationship between the amendment date and the document start date. Fields are fully editable when the amendment occurs before or on the start date, and appropriately restricted to date and service detail fields when the amendment occurs after the start date.

ACAP Testing Supports Form Enhancements

The Alabama ACAP Testing/Supplemental Form (ACAPTSF) document now enforces grade-based rules when selecting assessments and building accommodations. Assessments will only appear as available options when they apply to the student's current grade level, preventing out-of-grade selections.

Key Updates:

  • Grade-based assessment availability — Assessments are now restricted to eligible grade levels only. If a student's grade does not match the assessment's designated grade range, that assessment will not be available for selection on the form.

  • PreACT split into two options — The PreACT assessment (Grade 10) is now separated into "PreACT Online" and "PreACT Paper" to reflect the distinct testing formats and their respective accommodation settings.

  • Three new WIDA assessments added:

    • WIDA Alternate Screener — Available for students in grades K–12 who have the Alternate Assessment marked on their Special Education Profile.

    • WIDA Screener Kindergarten — Available for students in grade K.

    • WIDA Screener — Available for students in grades K–12.

Why This Matters:
These changes align with ALSDE requirements to ensure students are only assigned assessments appropriate to their current grade level. This reduces the risk of incorrect accommodation plans being built for assessments a student is not eligible to take, improving compliance accuracy when completing IEP documentation.

What You Need to Know:
No manual action is required. The system will automatically enforce grade eligibility when the ACAPTSF document is opened. New assessment options and their associated accommodations and subjects will be available based on the student's grade and Special Education Profile settings.

Updated Special Education Status Calculation

The ActiveIEP and InactiveStatusReasonCalc formulas have been updated to determine a student's active or inactive IEP status more accurately.

Previously, certain combinations of eligibility, enrollment, consent, and IEP expiration conditions could result in incorrect status calculations. With this fix, the formulas now correctly evaluate all relevant factors, ensuring students are reflected with the right active or inactive status in their records.

What this means for you: Administrators and case managers can rely on IEP status indicators to accurately reflect each student's current eligibility and program standing, reducing the risk of compliance errors in reporting.
