Extended School Year (ESY) services are special education and related services provided beyond the regular school year when the IEP Team determines that such services are necessary for the student to receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). ESY services are not automatic and are determined individually, based on the unique needs of the student.
The Extended School Year (ESY) section is required and will be created for all students regardless of age.

Completing the Extended School Year (ESY)

From the flyout menu, select Extended School Year (ESY)

The section will display 3 checkbox options:

If you select the 1st or 2nd checkbox, no other data displays

If you select the 3rd checkbox, you will need to complete the goal entry

Under the Extended School Year (ESY) heading, select one of the following: [Single selection is required]

ESY is not necessary

ESY is necessary (document services below) When the checkbox is checked, at least one service must be entered.

If ESY will be considered at a later date or is not necessary, no additional information is required.

Complete entry of ESY Services as indicated below:

Select Type of Service [required]

Once Type of Service is selected, enter the goal text referencing the goal description from the goal section of the IEP

Enter number of Hours, Minutes, Periods, Periods …. [A service can only have hours and/or minutes or periods or sessions. No combination of periods, sessions and hours and minutes is valid]

Enter Time and select Frequency

Select Location [Lookup or Non-Lookup options]

Enter Start Date [The start date cannot be less than the IEP meeting date. The start date cannot be greater than 1 year minus a day from the IEP meeting date.]

Enter End Date [required] [The end date cannot be less than the start date. The end date cannot be greater than 1 year minus a day from the IEP meeting date. ]

Select Yes or No … Participating with non-disabled peers?

Select + to add service records under each goal as desired.

Select Save, Done Editing.
If there are required fields not yet completed, the system will display the following error message:
Section was saved but is incomplete until all required fields (pink highlighted) are filled.
